West Bandung - Police are delving into the discovery of several messages written on the walls of a house, believed to be penned by Iguh Indah Hayati (55) and Elia Putra (24) in West Bandung, West Java. Authorities are also examining a USB drive found at the scene as part of their investigation.
"The USB contains messages expressing disappointment towards family and life in general," said Cimahi Police Chief AKBP Tri Suhartono in West Bandung, as reported by Antara on Friday (August 2, 2024).
Tri stated that the police are analyzing the messages directed at the victims' husband and are comparing the handwriting on the walls with the victims' daily writings.
Iguh and Elia were discovered as skeletal remains by Mudjoyo Tjandra, Iguh's husband and Elia's father, in their home in Tanimulya Village, Ngamprah District, West Bandung, on Monday (July 29).
"We are currently analyzing the disappointment directed at the husband, related to family and life matters," he added.
Eleven witnesses, including those named in the wall messages, the husband, neighborhood leaders, neighbors, and family members, have been questioned by the police.
Tri mentioned that Iguh's husband is being treated as a witness to uncover the cause of the mother and son's deaths.
"According to his statement, they were living separately. There had been no divorce, and he had left the house since 2015," he said.
The messages on the house walls were directed at the victims' husband and father, expressing disappointment over unfulfilled promises.
Below are excerpts from the messages written by the mother and son:
Letter to Mudjoyo
"If you make a promise, don't make one if you can't keep it. I want to go to school, you said you'd pay for it, but it was all a lie. Note, I will take all your sweet promises to my grave," reads one message on the wall.
"I only asked for school fees, but you acted like that. You said to reach for the stars, but you didn't support me with school fees. Forgive me for not being the perfect child because no human is perfect. Even your wife, whom you left, you demanded her to be perfect. Know that only God is perfect," another message read.
Recent Updates
Further investigation revealed that Iguh and Elia had been reclusive, with minimal interaction with neighbors. This isolation may have contributed to the delay in discovering their deaths. Police are currently awaiting forensic analysis results to determine the exact cause and time of death, as well as any potential foul play involved.
Additionally, Mudjoyo Tjandra, who had been living separately in Cirebon since 2015, claimed he had not communicated with his wife and son in years, citing strained family relations. Authorities are examining this claim to verify its authenticity and relevance to the case.
Forensic experts are also scrutinizing the contents of the USB drive and comparing the handwriting on the walls with known samples from Iguh and Elia to confirm their authorship of the messages. The police aim to piece together a comprehensive picture of the events leading to their tragic deaths.
