The Paris 2024 Olympics officially opened on Friday night (July 26) local time in France or early Saturday morning (July 27) WIB. Despite only a few days since the opening ceremony, Indonesia has had to bid farewell to six of its representatives who have been eliminated from various sports. Here is a list of the six Indonesian representatives who have been eliminated as of Monday (July 29):
Diananda Choirunnisa, Rezza Octavia, Syifa Nurafifah - Women's Team Archery
The women's team archery team, consisting of Diananda Choirunnisa, Rezza Octavia, and Syifa Nurafifah, ended their journey in the quarter-finals after losing to China. Previously, the team had defeated Malaysia in the preliminary round. Despite being eliminated in the women's team event, Diananda, Rezza, and Syifa still have opportunities in the women's individual event. Additionally, Diananda will also compete in the mixed team event with Arif Dwi Pangestu.
Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari - Mixed Doubles Badminton
Indonesia's mixed doubles badminton pair, Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, made a surprising start by defeating the South Korean pair, Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun. Unfortunately, they had to bow out after suffering two losses in the group stage to the Chinese pair, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, and the French pair, Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue.
Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti - Women's Doubles Badminton
Indonesia's women's doubles badminton pair, Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, failed to advance to the quarter-finals after losing to representatives from Japan and China. Nonetheless, Apriyani and Siti still have one more match remaining against the Malaysian representatives, which will take place on Tuesday (July 30).
Although six Indonesian representatives have been eliminated, many more events await the remaining Indonesian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The fighting spirit and full support from the Indonesian people are expected to provide positive energy for the athletes who are still striving to achieve their best performance at the world's biggest sporting event.
